About Permie PowerFoods
Grow it. Ferment it. Know exactly what is in your food.
We, at Permie Power Foods, find it extremely important to grow, ferment, and sprout your own food. It gives us joy and health, and we want to spread that with others.
We are passionate about creating nutrient-dense foods for ourselves and want to help you grow your own Power Foods. Everything on this site is something we have actually made in our own kitchen or grown on our own shelves. If a method did not work for us, we say so. If it worked, we show you exactly how.
The Power Foods we grow and ferment
Mung bean sprouts. Sunflower microgreens. Lion’s mane and oyster mushrooms. Kombucha, kimchi, kefir, sauerkraut, and tepache. We grow and ferment each of these ourselves, and we have noticed better overall health for it, including noticeably better gut health.
Why we love this
It is a very exciting process, playing with your food this way.
- Watching a sprout seed break open, reach for the light, and grow leaves is an incredible experience.
- Watching lacto-fermentation bubble up, creating the good bacteria that support your health, is amazing.
- Watching mycelium run and fruit into delicious lion's mane mushrooms is incredible. Eating them is even better.
“In addition to helping food last longer, fermentation also enhances the taste of foods, giving them added complexity… by eating fermented vegetables, vegetarians can get vitamin B12, which otherwise isn’t present in plant foods.”
— Dr. Ludwig, via Harvard Health Publishing
